Slip resistance testing

We measure how slippery your floors are using the wet pendulum test set out in Australian Standards, so you know whether a surface is fit for how it's used.

What is slip resistance testing?

Slip resistance testing measures how much grip a pedestrian surface provides, using standard equipment and methods. In Australia, two standards set out how it's done:

AS 4586-2013  classifies the slip resistance of new pedestrian surface materials. It's the standard the National Construction Code (NCC) refers to.

AS 4663-2013 measures the slip resistance of existing surfaces, meaning floors that have already been in use.

Both standards include the wet pendulum test, the most widely used on-site method in Australia and the one we use.
